a nice passage…

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

"We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms — to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way."

this be the verse…

Sunday, September 3rd, 2006

they fuck you up, your mum and dad.
they may not mean to, but they do.
they fill you with the faults they had
and add some extra, just for you.

but they were fucked up in their turn
by fools in old-style hats and coats,
who half the time were soppy-stern
and half at one another’s throats.

man hands on misery to man.
it deepens like a coastal shelf.
get out as early as you can,
and don’t have any kids yourself.
