mediocrity struck again…

Monday, August 15th, 2005

i was looking towards a mind-draining day… but to my dismay… it turned out to be a dud…

well… i still don’t have the printer facts that i need… and also the test results to compare dual-core pentium 4 processor with… it will be a photo-finish deadline submission… something that i miss since i left college…

dang… i have four new hardwares to write about… but it bores me to write about these stuff… who cares about vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser printer technology anyway… or the new entry-level radeon x800gt graphics card from sapphire if there is already a more powerful but slightly pricey radeon x850xt also from the same company available in the market…

sigh… if only i could find the perfect opening sentences to start that writeup for the new nokia 6111, 6270, and 6280… i started my print career with a phone review (technically, it was a coffee review for starbucks… the phone review was my second…)… and i’m glad that i’ll be able to write another one again…

by the way… it is the fifteenth… time to treat myself… before i pay the bills…

punks not dead… they just got… err… shallower…

yes… what you read is right… these guys are alive… and kicking…

after arriving at the mrt araneta center station, i quickly noticed four guys dressed in awfully drab shirts and sitting at the retaining wall beside the stairway… as i alighted from the steps, i saw that there were more of these guys… and even more when i entered farmers’ plaza… and even more when i reached the bridge that goes around araneta coliseum and connecting farmers’ plaza and gateway mall…

i just smiled when i saw the scene below… a sea of punk humanity flooded the streets…

the coliseum entrance was already wet and muddy… and the plants infront were all devastated… i’m not inventing facts here… this is true believe me…

as i sliced my way through pockets of our beloved members of society… i told myself that i need a breather… i headed to the nearest bookstore inside the mall to inquire if they have any of the books that was written by every wrestling fans’ favorite hardcore legend mick foley… and lady luck seemed to have fancy me as i found one… tietam brown… i might grab a copy next week…

going back to our punky friends… i started to get a feeling that things will not be going well as more and more punkies are alighting from the lrt… and they came in various kinds… the real punks - those who had fully mutated and became what a real punk should be… the trying hards - wearing tight maong pants… small tees… a pair of intentionally worn out chuck taylors… dark charcoal beneath their eyes… and spiked hair… the wannabies - similar like the trying hards… but looks freash and innocent… the usual victims… the newbies - those who just wants to get a piece of what is happening… the gays - punks have homos in their ranks… and they are quite some bastards… no kiddin’… they will harass passers by because they know that they can not be touched due to the sheer number of their brethren punks… and of course… the cracked - those who had already took in "crack" and carries a packets of it…

i got out of gateway mall and found myself swimming throught the sea of punks… and they seem not to recognize authority… i found them sitting along the center isle… refusing to give cars a clear way… and even pedestrians like myself… one needs to be tough and composed to deal with these guys…

i read the marquee in front of the coliseum… there was a free concert sponsored by rexona… featuring parokya ni edgar… discard parokya ni edgar… the trigger word was "free"… it was the reason why they rushed to araneta…

hapless…

i wonder if each person will recieve a rexona roll-on…

then this just came to mind… what can be situation inside the restaurants within the vicinity of the coliseum… like starbucks, cibo, gloria maris…

by the way… the police just dragged to the police precint a suspected snatcher…

i hope that this event serves as a lesson for event organizers… this situation had occured a number of times in the past already…

and as i was writing this blog… i just can’t help but smile everytime i hear the jeers of the crowd outside this hub… i can still feel that certain kind of rush i felt when i was just a budding journalism student in santo tomas… i need to be there in order to write something about it… but fate gave me another way to get through life… i still write… but not the type that i used to write back then…

and also… i’m still boggled if i’ll get myself hooked up with need for speed 2: underground… the reason why i’m lagging behind with my article… i still need to write four… and be in the office by 8 am starting next week…

yet… it is another story… i need to go home now and fix my things…

and yes… i’ll be swimming again through a sea of punks…

they are members of our society.. so there is no use of regretting that they were born… hence… just smile whenever you see one… long live the punks… <hmm… i wonder… where did i hid my pair of tight jeans…>
